What is E-rate?

E-rate is a Schools and Libraries Program that provide discounts ranging between 20 and 90 percent for eligible services. Eligible applicants include public and privates schools K-12, libraries, and districts. Services that can be discounted include internet services and related equipment.

What is the process?

1. Competitive bidding.

• Request services by completing for FCC Form 470. The bidding process must be open for 28 days after which you can pick a provider and sign a contract.

2. Apply for discounts.

• After you have signed a contract with your service provider, FCC Form 471 will need to be completed to request a discount. This needs to be completed within the filing window.

3. Start your service.

• Complete FCC Form 486 to confirm that services have started

4. Invoicing.

• Submit FCC Form 498 or FCC Form 472 to receive reimbursement
